Australia Welcomes About 158 Skilled Workers Every Day
    By Ryan Reynolds

Australia is still on a vigilant lookout for migrants who can address its skills shortage. Almost every skilled profession is in great demand. A growing economy means that new workers are welcomed to the country. Currently, Australian immigration is at an approximate rate of 158 skilled workers and professionals per day.

According to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA), over 58,000 workers came to Australia on temporary or permanent Australian visas during the past year. In particular, these numbers have been boosted by Australian visa websites which assist overseas workers in their Australian immigration.

The Australian visa is based on a points system, which means skilled migrants have to reach a certain number of points before they qualify for an Australian visa. Australian visa applicants whose skill specialisation is included in the MODL (Migration Occupations in Demand List) http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/skilled-occupations/occupations-in-demand.htm automatically earn bonus points and will be given first priority in their Australian immigration.

Acccording to the latest figures, over 7700 workers made Western Australia their new home, approximately 8200 went to Queensland, almost 12,000 went to Victoria, while over 23,000 newcomers chose New South Wales.

The skills of newcomers are needed to help offset Australia's growing skilled labour shortage.
